Some ideas for using Google Docs (I do all of these!):
- Planning a Zumbathon event? Keep track of ticket sales using a spreadsheet. Give the other event organizers edit access to the spreadsheet so they can see how many tickets were sold and add their own sales. Create a second tab for the playlist where each instructor can enter the songs they want to use.
- Do you know so many routines that sometimes you forget your moves? Enter your choreo notes in a document. Pull up the document on your smartphone for a quick review before class. I use one document for each song.
- Need to stay organized for tax time? Create a 2011 Tax folder and save all of your documents there. Did you make a charitable donation? You can save it right from your gmail into a Google Doc. Scan receipts and upload the image files.
Before you upload your entire hard drive, be aware that stored files (.PDF, .DOC, .JPG, etc.) count towards your 1 GB free storage limit, while Google Docs formats don't use up your storage space. If you run out of space, you can purchase additional storage for only $5/year.
While your documents are safer in the cloud than on your hard drive, it's still a good idea to keep a backup, especially if you have essential items such as tax receipts.

I recently started keeping my choreo notes in Google Docs - one doc per routine like you. Knowing that a techie like you does too encourages me to continue that!
To better organize the routines, I started creating folders too - salsa, merengue, reggaeton etc.
I keep running in to a problem, though. Often when I go back to edit or add to a routine, Google Docs just won't let me change anything. The only way around it is for me to copy and paste all of the new text in to a new document and then edit there. Then I go back and delete the old original.
Have you run in to that? I have a MacBook. Maybe it's just a compatibility issue?
Oops. I meant I copy and paste all of the old, original text in to a new document.
Great idea organizing your choreo by dance style! I haven't experienced that issue, but you can try to isolate the problem with these steps: Next time you run into the issue of not being able to edit, try using another browser. If you're using Safari, try using FireFox or Chrome instead. If that works, then the browser you're using might not be compatible with Google Docs or you might need to update to the latest version. If no other browsers work on the same computer, then it might be the Mac OS. I would then try it on a windows computer, if you have access to one. If editing still doesn't work, then it would be a problem with your account and I would try contacting Google about the issue.
